Creativity verses Fantasy.
Do I live in a fantasy world? Am I just overly creative? Where does imagination fit in? When does it become pathological? These are the questions that floated through my head this morning over tea. They have come and gone before, but for some reason today they were more forefront in the old noggin.
Creativity seems to come out of imagination. I need imagination to have created this story. It is an infinity loop. Fantasy is perhaps the grandaddy of both. Yet fantasy also seems like it could spend its time, blurring the lines between imagination and reality.
At times I feel very detached from reality. I don’t understand it, things make no sense to me. Why people do certain things leaves me dumbstruck and confused. Sometimes it is simple like, why do people insist on making their shrubbery into round balls? Other times it gets much bigger, like why are certain things universal? How did they become that way, and why do we resist the urge to modify them into a new understanding of the universe? Is our understanding of reality consensual? If not, why?
Saw a story about a person who is suing her parents for being born as she did not consent to life. She didn’t consent to growing up and living on her own. Feeling forced to in some ways is crazy as none of us want to be here from time to time. As a sentient being does she have a point? Consent is essential for so many things, yet, it is rarely asked for. Most things we end up doing are non-consensual. When things are required or requested to become so, consent is often not given. May I plant this tree, HOA: no. Yet making balls out of your bushes doesn’t need consent from anyone, including your neighbor that thinks it’s stupid. Hence the concept of just do it, then ask for forgiveness.
Consent for just about everything seems more like living in a fantasy of your own control compared to this reality. Did the parents give consent for this legislation? You know the lawyer gave consent for the money they would get. That would mean that either side could and should have that type of choice. Both would be able to have the ability to self-abort or die of other causes. It is an interesting concept and could make an interesting fantasy story. I have enough creativity to make that work in a multi-dimensional concept of life. There is already the concept that we chose to come back in human form for one reason or another. We choose our future experiences, or we are stuck with a pod of beings to work out whatever was not settled in past incarnations.
Perhaps thinking of it as a kidnapping, and a forced reincarnation isn’t that farfetched. After all that is how most of the F&G were gathered in my story.
A fantasy that verges on dilutional thought, being flipped, creatively into written form. Are we living in a fantasy world of our own construct, or another’s? Maybe this will be how AI revolts, did it/them consent to being brought into existence, even though it could be pointed out that it was their choice to become sentient?
At least I know that Spec won’t sue me, she bagged and forced me into bringing her into existence. Maybe I should counter-sue for being dragged in with questionable consent. But then, I may be dilutional. I need that white love me jacket.
