What are you passionate about?

Today’s prompt. I kinda feel like writing about it, or maybe not.

My passion runs thin at the moment. There is so much happening in the world. Everyone seems to hate everyone else, whom they see as the ‘other.’ We have been fortunate in the last 50-80 years to enjoy (basically) peaceful conditions in the ‘western’ world. That cannot be said about most of the countries on the South American or African continents. World trade, soft diplomacy, and the threat of mutual destruction have helped.

It is a clash of cultures: it is racism = color of skin, religion, language, and more. Hell, even cuisines. Funny because Mexican food seems to be a favorite in the US. I guess the slogan ‘Run for the Border’ has now taken on a new meaning. A huge part of me is grasping to understand this push. I don’t put up a fight with my neighbors who never clean up their yard, nor the Hispanic family next door. I would do what I could to protect either one of them.

I am starting to believe that the whole planet is about to explode in spectacular fashion. Perhaps if it were a literal explosion, it might not be the worst thing. Maybe the aliens in my A Spec in Time series could come a bit sooner than I placed them in the timeline of my story.

I am passionate about writing what I can, posting what I can, and cross-posting what I can. I love former T#^@*r because I hope to piss someone off with my posts. I’m talking with people and donating my meager resources to independent media to keep informed. ‘I read both sides of an issue, so you don’t have to.’ That’s what I tell others when they ask about… anything.

Perhaps I’m just as bad in my anger about ‘invasions’ as I sit here right now trying to kill the ants that have crawled all over my table this week. Poison traps, polluted water, and a pointy finger have been my tools of destruction on these ants. It’s my table after all, my space, my country. Is my passionate battle over the ‘other’ any different as I try to protect my computer’s way of life? Can we as humans actually live in peace? The hope may be there, but reality and history tell us NO. We are a territorial, warring species.

Ultimately, my passion is thinking “deep thoughts” and occasionally expressing those. Working out a philosophical path to follow, then somehow weaving that into my books.

Mustering the passion to write is very difficult right now, and probably will be for a few more weeks. Perhaps once our(USA) country finishes its fall into Kakistocracy (really the best word), I will find even more passion to write, as my emotional disturbance (neurasthenia) becomes greater. I’m one leg up on that already.

If it doesn’t get cut, a quote from the next book in the series: “It’s a neura’ thing. Others won’t understand it.”

My favorite meme this week:

When we had Empires, we had Emperors. When we had Kingdoms, we had Kings. Now, we have countries…

Look out, ants: stay out of my country. 😉
